I am a 23-year-old professional writer and amatuer cook in Austin, TX. I grew up in Houston and London, wound up at the University of Texas in Austin, and was married December 2006 to a wonderful man. I love enjoying the city, laughing, cooking, board games, running, Jay Leno, and playing with our two pups, Elton and Rocky.

Why “Saltimbocca”?
Saltimbocca means to "jump in the mouth" in Italian, alluding the fact that a dish leaps into your mouth because it's so good. I will strive for this, and hopefully each recipe that I post will fall somewhere nearer “saltimbocca” on the scale, rather than “ripugnante.”

I love this site! It just keeps getting better and better! I wish I could take the time to create such a masterpiece! Keep it up, and you’ll be famous soon! (Hey, maybe you can get your own show on Food Network!)
I just found your blog from your NIWeb article – and I love it! The way you mix your recipe inspirations and stories is so genuine. When people love to cook, it is an interwoven part of their life, and you demonstrate that so well.
Thanks Emily! Cooking is such a fun part of my life…often a stress reliever and such a way to get to know others. It’s hard to have time for awkward silences when you’re chopping carrots with someone and asking them about the meals that mean something to them. Something about the basic need for food makes cooking and recipes and the memories made through them cross cultures and generations with ease.
So glad to have found your blog!
Keep up the good work…
